Hello! It’s Kim again. Dr. Jody Carrington is doing an online advent calendar for reconnection through the month of December. She describes this reconnection challenge as, “your guide to joy, mindfulness and gratitude, to walk you right into the holidays.” She really focuses on relationships and connection in her work, and this challenge is a really great way to refresh your connection with yourself as a person, and with those you love.
If you’re like me, you can probably use some grounding right now! I went to her website and was looking through the daily challenges, and it looks really helpful. Grounding is all about slowing down, using all your senses, and getting in touch with your internal and external worlds again. What better way to do that than spending an evening doing nothing, indulging in your favourite holiday treat, or one of the other activities on this list?
Here’s the link to her reconnection challenge.
I really encourage you all to check it out! You may be feeling stressed and overwhelmed, with all the busyness of the holidays, and you may be wanting to say to me that you don’t have time for a single other thing! I think some of these activities will be really helpful if you can fit one or two in, but you can choose to participate as much or as little as you wish. It’s meant to be a challenge, but you can adapt the challenge to whatever you need it to be for you.
It’s easy to let the holiday season rush by without taking a minute to stop and savour the experience of celebrating, and this advent calendar is a really fun way to do it. Who doesn’t want more joy, gratitude, mindfulness, and reconnection in their life?
Not to mention, she has some really cool prizes for those participating in this challenge! There are weekly prize baskets, and one grand prize. You can check out what all of them are (and find out all the other information about the challenge) at her website here.
As we go forward into the holiday season, I really hope you find a moment to catch your breath, ground yourself, and reconnect with friends, family, and loved ones. Whether it’s through this challenge or through another technique that works for you, I hope you feel present in the moment and connected with those around you.
